Celebrating a Legacy of Entrepreneurship
CETAC is a dynamic not-for-profit organization committed to nurturing innovation and fostering the growth of technology-driven entrepreneurs since 1994. Over the years, CETAC has played a pivotal role in supporting visionaries who are on the cutting edge of commercializing environmental technology.
For nearly 30 years CETAC has been working with small technology businesses and continuously creating and evolving programs to better meet their needs as they navigate their commercialization and entrepreneurial journeys. What sets us apart is not just our track record, but the unique bond we share with our alumni. Our early clients, once beneficiaries of our support, have evolved into mentors, creating a powerful network that fuels the success of new entrepreneurs. At CETAC, we believe in the power of the network and mentorship, and it is this ethos that continues to drive our mission forward.

In Memory of Joe Lukacs
We are honoured to remember our late President and CEO, Joe Lukacs, whose remarkable journey began in a humble Hungarian mud house and led him to become a pioneer in environmental technology. Overcoming immense adversity, from WWII hardships to political challenges under Stalin, Joe's resilience fuelled his academic and professional pursuits. After immigrating to Canada, he excelled at the University of Alberta and founded Western Research and Development, earning the nickname "sulphur doctor" for his innovations in reducing pollution in Alberta's sour gas plants.
Joe's visionary leadership continued with the founding of CETAC-WEST, significantly advancing the commercialization of environmental technologies for SMEs. His legacy is marked by prestigious accolades such as the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal and the Alberta Order of Excellence. Beyond his professional achievements, Joe cherished moments on his ranch and with his family. He passed away in 2024 at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of innovation, resilience, and dedication.
